The Yankees are sports greatest franchise. Every year they are out to put together the best team. This means that they are not afraid to spend money to get the games best players. They have given monster contracts to land players in the past and continue to throw out these ridiculous amounts of money. Alex Rodriguez signed a 10 year $275 million contact in 2007 and C.C. Sabathia signed a 7 year $161 million contract in 2008. Red Sox fans are quick to remind Yankee fans how much money they spend. However, this offseason, it is the Red Sox who have taken over as the big spender. Carl Crawford signed for 7 years $142 million and they also traded for Adrian Gonzalez who is one of the leagues best first basemen. There are no excuses for Red Sox fans this year if they don't get it done.

End of the Semester Stress.
The end of the semester in college is not what I expected it to be. I knew it would be hectic and that I would have to do a lot of studying but I never expected this much. The second I got back from Thanksgiving break my school work doubled and everything became more difficult. The end of the semester is full of research papers, homework, studying for finals and extra credit to boost grades up. Not only did I have to worry about the semester coming to a close, I also had the responsibility of getting up in the morning at 7 am to run for baseball. Although it isn't baseball season yet, I still had to try the best I could to prove myself as a freshman. Many freshman were feeling the same pressure as I was but I believe as a student athlete it was even more of a challenge. I could only hope that my hardwork and time put into the work I did will pay off when my grades are given back. End of the semester stress really is as bad as all the upperclassmen say it is, and now I know this first hand.

Christmas
It's almost time for Christmas again. Houses are decorated, trees are put up, and there are a million Santas in the mall. The crowds are enomorous and every single store claims they have the best deals. I went to the Jersey Shore Outlets on Black Friday a few weeks ago and saw some of the longest lines. Not only were the lines to buy stuff huge, but there were lines just to get into the stores. It was complete madness. Is this what Christmas has come to be? Is it strctly driven by commercial desires?

Auburn vs. Oregon
The Tostitos BCS National Championship Game this year in college football is between the Auburn Tigers (SEC champion) and the Oregon Ducks (Pac-10 champion). This is the first time either of these teams will appear in the BCS title game. Both teams finished undefeated and bring huge offenses to the table. Lamichael James (Oregon) and Cam Newton (Auburn) are both Heisman candidates and are expected to have big games. The game will be played in Glendale, Arizona on January 10. Auburn seems like the favorite early but that may be subjuect to change.

Role Models
What is a role model? According to the Oxford English Dictionary it is "a person regarded by others as an example to be imitated." We all are guilty of looking at famous athletes and actors as role models who don't deserve that attention. Mark McGwire was a great baseball player and many looked up to him; however, he was caught using steroids. Paris Hilton is looked up to by many teenage girls and it seems like she is always doing something to get herself into trouble. Are these people we want to imitate? Just because people make mistakes doesn't necessarily mean they are bad. Michael Vick went to jail for dog fighting a few years ago. He is now the starting quaterback on the Philadelphia Eagles and is an MVP candidate. He talks to young children around the world warning them how easy it is to make mistakes. He is an example of someone who has gotten his life together after making some bad choices. To me, he is a role model.
A Little Bit of Everything
I didn't really know what topic to write about for my blog so I figured why not do a little bit of everything. My first posts were on music and then I got bored with it. I wanted to write about something that had more meaning. I wanted to put my own spin on things rather than just spit facts about people. After reading other blogs and seeing how they made me think, I wanted to get that same effect. So why limit oneself to one topic when there are so many things to write about? I hope that writing about something different everyday will keep people more interested. After all, who wants to read about the same stuff everyday?

T.I.
T.I. is one of the hip-hop games best rappers. He has produced multiple big time albums such as King, T.I. vs. T.I.P., and Paper Trail. He is set to release his next album No Mercy soon. He is from Atlanta, Georgia and brings that southern style to his rap. T.I. has also been in a few movies as well. He starred in the #1 box office hit Takers and ATL. He has been arrested a few times for gun and drug charges, but continues to do big things with his career.
Just because T.I. went to jail, does that mean he is not a proper role model?

Sam Adams - Rapper
Sam Adams, otherwise known as Boston's Boy, is an up and coming rapper. He went to Trinity College where he played soccer. He made his name in the music business where he produced club bangers such as I Hate College (Remix) and Hold On. He is a combination of both rap and pop/techno. He has his own distinct style and is primed to make big noise in the music business in the next few years.
Is Sam Adams good enough to make it big in the music industry?
